M.Tech Project Title Company Duration Abstract : Determination of Reaction Kinetics of Fluidized Bed Coal Gasification. : Project work undertaken at BHEL R&D, Hyderabad. : 06-09-2004 to 17-03-2005 : This project was aimed at studying the IGCC process where Coal is efficiently used and obtaining the kinetics of carbon steam reaction taking place during Gasification, for designing and modeling purposes. The data required has been taken from the gasification experiments carried out in Fluidized bed gasifier pilot plant (APFBG test rig) installed at coal research facility at BHEL R&D corporate division. Carbon steam reaction kinetic parameters have been determined for two coal samples (Dadri & Tiruchy). Experiments have been carried out as a function of various process conditions (pressure, temperature and gas composition). In this study experimental data is used with the assumption that complete combustion occurs very rapidly in reaction zone. Assuming nth order kinetics for pure steam experiments kinetic rate equations have been derived for both coals. B.Tech Project Title : Manufacture of Cellulose Acetate

Abstract : In this project an original attempt is made to design Cellulose Acetate manufacturing plant with the limitations of knowledge at student level. Cellulose Acetate is the one of the oldest man-made fiber. Acetate is important fiber because of its combination of desirable properties and price. Commercially there is only one process available for manufacturing Cellulose Acetate. A detailed process description is given followed by material and energy balances. A design of rotary drier is presented. The cost estimation of plant based on the major items and equipment is worked out. Besides, described are the aspects of plant location and layout.
