Will and Going to


We use WILL for @ Predictions without evidence "I will be an international singer @ Offering our help "I'll help you with those heavy bags" @ Sudden decisions "Im tired. I think Ill stay in this evening We use GOING TO for @ Predictions with evidence "Look at those clouds, its going to rain soon !" @ Future intentions "I'm going to study psychology at university next year"

We generally use "will" for prediction with the following verbs and phrases: believe , expect , hope , think , wonder , Im sure , Im afraid, etc. I believe he will pass the exam. I hope he wont leave us. I am afraid he will fail the exam. Do you think they will divorce?

We use "will" with the adverbs perhaps, probably, certainly. Perhaps they will support you in the election. Jackson will probably go to London next year.
