Class Procedures Students are expected to enter class and begin on their warm up assignment. Students should be doing this before the bell rings in their assigned seat. If students fail to do this, they will be marked tardy. Three tardies in a five week period will result in a U in cooperation and a call home. Please do not hang out in front of the classroom prior to the tardy bell ringing. Teacher Expectations Ms. Kortkamp expects all of her students to always do their best on all assignments. If students do not have homework they can always study their notes because there will be a quiz and/or a test every week. Students are expected to come to class everyday prepared to increase their knowledge base. Electronic Devices Electronic devices are not allowed at MAHS. Keep them stowed away and turned off. Electronic devices will be confiscated and a parent/guardian must retrieve them in the main office. This includes headphones. Class and Homework Students will be assigned class work every day. Class work that is not finished in class becomes homework. Class work will be checked by issuing students a stamp at first then will be more thoroughly evaluated during a notebook check. Notebook checks will occur every two weeks. Students may turn in 3 late homework assignments during the semester without any penalty. After this, all assignments will receive half credit. Class work will not be accepted late for students who were in class that day.

Copied work will result in a zero grade both for the person who copied and the student who allowed the other to copy from them. 0-3 missing assignments = E in work Habits, 4-6 missing assignments = S in work habits. 7+ missing assignments = U in work habits. Tests and Quizzes- There will be a surprise quiz every week. Students are responsible for keeping up on reading and all assignments. Tests will be given at the end of every unit. Those who are found talking, using electronic devices, or engaging in suspicious behavior during a test or quiz will receive a zero on the exam. Make Up Policy When a student has an excused absence they are responsible for getting their make up work. This can be done before school, after school, or at lunch. Students may also check on Edmodo.com and network with others in that class to find out what they missed. Students have one week to make up the assignment they miss. After that period the assignment will be considered late. Unexcused absences are not allowed to do make up work without a late penalty. Restroom Policy Students may leave to go to the restroom during the class period, but must come after school for five minutes to make up the time lost during class. Excessive requests to use the restroom will result in contacting parents and school nurse if necessary. Emergencies will be an exception based on Ms. Kortkamps judgment. Class Materials Students will need to bring a pen, #2 pencil, spiral notebook with at least 100 pages, composition notebook, loose leaf paper, and their text book to class EVERY Day. Ms. Kortkamp will not house any student material in her classroom. Students will loose a point every day they do not bring their textbook to class and will be unable to complete their class work. Text books must be covered at all times. Students will not be allowed to go to their lockers to retrieve class materials Grading Students grades are based on a points system. Every assignment has a points value attached to it. The grading scale is as follows: 100%-90%=A 89%-80%=B 79%-70%=C 69%-60%=D 59%or less=Fail Student and Parent Signatures By signing this document I understand all of the information in it and will be responsible for all that it entails. _______________________________ _____________________________________ Print Name (student) Print Name (Parent/Guardian) _______________________________ _____________________________________ Signature (student) Signature (Parent/Guardian)
