Sampling Technique: To make the sample of banks operating in Pakistan for research purpose, that is true representative of its population, the stratified sampling technique is used. The different stratums or subgroups on the basis of public, private, foreign, specialized, investment and Islamic banks are made. Stratified sampling is applied on this data because it ensures the presence of key subgroups within the sample. Proportionate Stratified Sampling The proportionate stratified sampling method used for selecting sample size. This formula for proportion is applied: ns/N*n In it the ns is population in each stratum The N is total population size The n is sample size I chosen that is 30
Stratum 1. Public sector banks 2. Islamic banks 3.private banks 4. Foreign banks 5. Development financial institution 6. Specialized banks 7. Micro Finance banks Interpretation:
By proportional stratified sampling, the proportional numbers are chosen from each stratum of banking sector on random sampling basis that are truly representative of their subgroups. This technique is generally used by researchers when there are categories in population and compare or find relationship among stratas. The other way is, by finding market capitalization of banks from each stratum we can chose sample of banks having larger market value.
