off and running, the canteen and toilets have now been open for three weeks and despite a few minor hiccups all is functioning well. We now have a new canteen manager, Leanne Patterson, who is going to look after us and try a few new things so please give her your support and patronage. Your Cup Runneth Over By now the majority of our families have been issued with their small change donation cup. This is one of our main fund raising adventures for this soccer season so please throw in all the small change you can spare. The cups will be collected and emptied at the end of the season and the funds will be put to good use in the clubrooms. If you havent received your cup yet please look in the canteen or talk to your manager. Floodlighting The floodlighting on both of the ovals has now been completed and was turned on a few weeks ago and it looked absolutely fantastic. The AHJSA is talking about trying some night matches soon so we will keep you informed of this. Security. It would be really appreciated if the parents who are last to leave the oval could just check

the doors of the clubrooms and the storage shed to make sure they are locked. To improve our security new locks and a security alarm system have been added. If you see anything wrong please report it to your coach or manager immediately. Management committee. Our club is managed by a group of dedicated parents who give up a small amount of their time to help organise and run our club. From the outside, and sometimes from the inside, this would appear to be a thankless job but still one that needs to be done for our club to operate. Without a management committee our club would cease to exist. The current committee has several long term members who will be leaving the club shortly and it is now time for the next generation of parents to step up and take the reigns. If you can find a few hours every month please consider putting up your hand and putting a bit back into the club that gives your kids so much enjoyment. If you are interested please contact me at woodsidewarriors@yahoo.com.au . Kind regards Phil Robinson woodsidewarriors@yahoo.com.au Chairman Woodside Warriors Soccer Club

IMPORTANT!!!

WORKING WARRIORS
QUIZ NIGHT!!! Saturday 27th July REMEMBER TO... Bring raffle tickets back & Keep filling up your donation buckets
Painting, shovelling, grouting and building were some of the jobs a group of Woodside Warriors soccer volunteers undertook at a recent working bee. It was all hands on deck to complete a number of projects before the start of the soccer season and it didnt matter whether you were tall, small, young or not so young there was a task to suit us all. The working bee gave our volunteers the chance to make a valuable contribution to our soccer club while being given the opportunity to get to know one another a little better and learn new skills. So go on, next time there is a call out to volunteer, give it a go.

SITTING PRETTY
This year the Under 16s are a blend of the old guard, new faces coming up from the under 14s and the return of some club players who have had a year off. Andy Thorpe has returned to take control of the team and we will hear his dulcet tones directing play from the sidelines throughout the season. Maddy Cole, Isaac Herrmann, Angus Manoel, Kathryn McIntyre, Matt Owen and Dale Robinson return for another year and their experience will be invaluable to the team. Its great to have Tahlie Jones, Liam Harding and Lucy Thorpe back and joining Jarryd Cotter, Jake Cram, Tom Gebbie, Yogev Goldstein, Tommi Kabelitz and Conor McGinley whose combined enthusiasm and skills make up a great team. We started the season off a little slowly with a 2-4 loss to a very quick Stirling East team, had a bye in round 2 which was filled with a trial match against some very enthusiastic Warriors coaches. In round 3 we got together for a fantastic 3-2 win over Mt Barker Red who had been sitting pretty on top of the ladder with 2 wins and 15 goals scored. It was a great match to watch with Mt Barker scoring first, then an equalizer from the Warriors, Mt Barker again, then two goals from the Warriors to win the match. There were some fantastic passages of play where the ball was passed superbly amongst our players, it all look very planned and professional! A big thank you to all our team parents for their willingness to be involved on the day - whether it be running the lines, working in the canteen or just cheering our team along! We look forward to our future matches with team work bound to improve as we go and hopefully continue our season on a winning note. - Under 16 Team Manager Tricia Owen

Soccer Inspirations:
A champion is someone who does not settle for that day's practice, that day's competition, that day's performance. They are always striving to be better. They don't live in the past. - Briana Scurry

Under 9 stars! As it stands one win out of four but the team is starting to gel.
