The First City of The Valley


Was named in honor of a Spanish saint/king. Trading center having to do with farms. In the 1840 San Fernando enjoyed a brief gold rush when nuggets were discovered. First organized community

History
Once was a land of farms : Los Angeles is only minutes away : Proudly offers responsive city services : With average rainfall 12-17 of 44% of humidity. : The city was named for the nearby Mission San Fernando Rey de Espaa, and was part of the Mexican land grant of Rancho Ex-Mission San Fernando

Geography
: Home of the Ceaser Chavez Memorial : San Fernando was selected for settlement long before the rest of Los Angeles : A community of attractive contrasts : Once a land of farms and ranches

Demographics

The 2010 United States Census[8] reported that San Fernando had a population of 23,645. , 967 households, out of which 3,247 had children under the age of 18 living in them.
For every 100 females there were 101.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.9 males.

Economy
The highest number of employees was 490, which worked for lausd; next its the puretek and JT contractors with 400 employees each. The Pepsi Beverages Company and Samco scientific with 300.

Education
San Fernando is included in los Angeles unified school district. The following are schools included O Melveny, Morningside, Gridley and san Fernando elementary. Also san Fernando middle school and high school
