Executive Summery

The case analysis titled Wal-Mart Stores Inc.: Dominating Global Retailing attempts to research and identifies the problems and obstacles faced by the employees of Walmart who are suffereing in various ways due to Walmarts frugal practices of low wages and harsh overtime policies. It is prepared solely for academic purpose of learning Human Resource Management industrial relation process. In the Background part of the case all the relevant information about the case is discussed. It discloses everything in the case in brief. Here everything is disclosed about Walmart, their standing in the international market as well as the impact on every stakeholder including the suppliers and the employees. This part is the basic of this case analysis. Everything important in the case is discussed here. The next part of the case is Theme. In this part we have discussed about the basic issues governing all the important stakeholders of Walmart and how one decision is affecting another group of stakeholder. Main Issue reveals the most potent problem in this case. And what initiatives should be undertaken in order to combat the problem as identified by us as union. Following segment is a Biased SWOT Analysis and this part thoroughly discusses about some following strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The SWOT has done from the union perspective therefore points regarding benefits working for Walmart and the compensation package they offer as well as the threats that show how the workers are forced to work overtime without pay. All aspects have been thotoughly discussed at this section. In Union Perspective, we have discussed about the various bodies that are being affected by the decisions and activities of Walmart and how their lives revolve around the steps that Walmart takes. The following part is Recommendation. Here we have identified aspects relating it to situations in the case as to how to combat issues that are against employee interest. Every recommendation identified has been justified with evidence. The last but most significant part is the Implementation of proposed recommendations. After identifying and evaluating the recommendation, we need to make them in practice. In this part the structure of attaining success has been outlined. We have selected and discussed about the best alternative solution and device and executed progressing activities.
