    If we need to take printout from a printer which is attached to your Desktop but not configured with as / 400 server, we can do it from AS400 application. To change this printer, simply open up the 5250 printer session, from the "File" menu, select "Printer Setup," and select a different printer on which you want to print. This session should always be open, when user want to print from AS400.

    Configuring Network Printer with AS/400

    Purpose: If we need to take printout from a printer which is attached to your Desktop
    but not configured with AS/400 Server.

    Procedure:
    1. Go to 5250 Emulator(Client-Access), click on Start or Configure session, select new session. 2. The System name should be the name of your system (or IP address). Here its AUAS400A

    2. Specify a workstation ID as the name of the new printer. (here it is ANNPRINT.) 3. Select the Type of Emulation, to be Printer and click on OK, in turn it will create a Printer Session.

    4. This session should display a window to say Ready, and Online.

    The printer session will print to the default printer associated with the computer. To change this printer, simply open up the 5250 printer session, from the File menu, select Printer Setup, and select a different printer on which you want to print as shown below --

    Select the desire printer from here and click OK.

    Now save this session by going to File - Save as as shown below -

    And save it at desired location with name AUAS400APrinter.

    This session should always be open, when user want to print from AS400.

    Now user can print from AS400 application, by just keeping this application open.
