PTA Tonyas meeting Birthday

Classroom News: We will be having 2 birthdays this month! Tonya is turning 9 on October 12th. Meghan will be turning 10 on October 30th. Be sure to wish them a Happy Birthday on their special day! Our class will be having a Pizza Party on October 18th because we sold over $500 in the school wide Fundraiser! Visit the class website at http://msvon.blogspot.com/ for more updates. Focus on: Mrs. Couch has been helping our class be safe at recess time. She has worked at Lake elementary for 15 years this month! Spotlight Activity: We will be studying the American Flag in the first week of October, and part of this unit will be having each student create a flag to represent their family. Please help your child gather appropriate symbols they may use to represent their family. We will also be creating a class flag by uniting all of the flags of individual students. After looking at symbols in our families, we will look at symbols associated with America. As we learn about the many cultures and values in our class and in the United States, we will satisfy the Standards in History, Topic 3, 4E. To get a head start on this project, talk about American values and symbols at a family dinner.
