Isobela Provence, Phillipines Site visit carried out by Foss (Keith Cooper) & Philab (Genghis Fernandes & Je Kris Ontog) with cooperation of Jphil and GFII The purpose of this visit was to oversee stages of construction of sample stand and Facilities for installation and commissioning of Foss Infracana.

Infracana was unpacked and located in Sample stand in preparation by Jphil. Cane shute from Core samplers was also installed. Issues observed (correction required) 1. Cane Shute not in correct alignment with Cutter-grinder. (JPHIL) 2 Water connection to Infracana requires rerouting as unit must to be repositioned for correct alignment with cutter-grinder. (Foss - Philab) 3. Power isolator to be installed on Infracana. (JPHIL) 4. Hydraulic press required for juice validation. (Philab) 5. Water line to conveyor spray pinched and requires replacement. (Foss - Philab) 6. Air connection to Infracana required air compressor not yet installed. (JPHIL) Commissioning phase of installation. This will be split into several stages. 1. The first stage will be to confirm correction of items observed during previous site visit and organise any corrective action required. 2. Next will be to confirm NIR operation. 3. The following stage will involve checking software and hardware interaction. 4. The final stage will be to run samples and operator training. Stages 1-3 may be completed on the first day provided all is well with the rest of the system however 2 days have been allowed for completion. Training will take 1 day for initial presentations and overview. The balance of training will be the hands on as follows. Training The training will firstly involve presentations including NIR theory, operator and safety procedures. This will be followed by hands on operator training while performing validation procedures.

Update 7/5/2012 Photographs sent of air connection indicates that the feed line may require modification as Infracana needs to be moved about 100-150mm once shute has been realighed. Suggestion is to place a flexible line as the last link in this connection. This will also be done with the water input.
