Rowden named to Citizens and Legislators Working Group on Medicaid Eligibility and Reform
Columbia, MO Missouri House Speaker Timothy Jones has announced Rep. Caleb Rowden (R-Columbia) will serve as a member of the House Citizens and Legislators Working Group on Medicaid Eligibility and Reform. The working group; made up of legislators, doctors, hospital administrators, Medicaid recipients, and business and labor leaders; will gather input on Medicaid reforms and will serve as a think tank for the House Interim Committee on Medicaid Transformation. When filling the working group, Jones said he was looking for individuals who would make a valuable contribution to the Medicaid discussion. Whether or not to expand Medicaid was one of the largest questions the legislature faced this session. While we firmly rejected the Presidents irresponsible plan to dump additional people into a struggling system, we cannot and should not be content with simply saying No. I firmly believe we must take ownership of the health care conversation, said Rowden. I am thankful that Speaker Jones recognizes this reality and I am honored that he has asked me to contribute my thoughts on the issue. I have already begun working with MO HealthNet administrators, local health care providers, and my constituents to identify reforms we can make. ###
