STOP LAMP Z01 DIODE INSPECTION PROCEDURE

This bulletin supercedes TSB 09-BR-002. In this bulletin, there is a TSB group change from Brake System (BR) to Body Electrical System (BE). DESCRIPTION: Some Genesis (Sedan BH) vehicles may experience the stop lamps blinking on and off even when the brakes are not applied. If the Z01 diode is suspected as the cause of the stop lamp malfunction, the Z01 diode must be inspected according to the procedure below. If there is no trouble with the Z01 diode after inspection, carry out other necessary repairs and DO NOT replace the Z01 diode. Genesis Sedan (BH) stop lamp-related wiring diagrams:

SERVICE PROCEDURE: Z01 diode inspection procedure 1. Locate the Z01 diode, under the driver's side lower crash pad. 2. Check if the Z01 diode is securely connected to the diode connector (A).

3. Measure the voltage across the Z01 diode in the car by probing from back of the connector and check if the reading is between 0.5V and 0.7V. - Normal voltage range: 0.5V~0.7V If the voltage is beyond the specified range, the Z01 diode must be replaced. Once a Z01 diode is replaced, make sure the diode is securely connected and all wires are covered appropriately.

4. In order to remove diode, gently remove the Z01 diode from the diode connector according to the order shown in pictures to the right. Gently raise the latching clip and pull the connector outwards as shown in the picture.
