Daugavpils Saskanas Basic School

School implements two standards based curriculums: Basic education programme Basic education programme for minorities The school aim: To improve the learning process in order to achieve optimal results - to rise a well-rounded, free-thinking person who is able to act in harmony with themselves, with their fellows, with the world around them. Our school principal is Antonija Lukjanska. She is a teacher of Latvian language. Antonija finished Daugavpils Pedagogycal University and got Master's degree. Antonija Lukjanska has worked as a principle since 1996. 465 pupils learn in our school and 36 teachers work here. Both Latvian- and Russianspeaking pupils learn at school. Hhhhhhhhhhhh The school was founded in 1989 and since that we have achieved good results. We provide the opportunity for Russian-speaking pupils to integrate into Latvian environment and we proved that it is real. Beginning from Form 4 Russian-speaking pupils acquire all the subjects in Latvian (except Russian language and literature) it is possible due to their level of Latvian language and positive motivation as well as qualification of the teachers. In the last 15 years our school has been among the best schools in the town. Our pupils always achieve good results in different Olympiads and competitions. In school year 2011/2012 the school was on the 1th place in the republic among small schools (schools with 500 pupils and less) according to the results of the Olympiads.
