Adopt a Student Proposal

The Andrew Dixon foundation has implemented a program to help the Vision Learning Center, a private school for-at risk youth. The school has been active in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica for the past 7 years. The main purpose of the Vision Learning Center, is to educate and train students that have been expelled from public schools, arrested for minor offences, children whose parents cannot adequately provide for them to attend schools, those prone to be killed in gang violence and students with learning disabilities. There are 110 students presently enrolled at the school. The Vision Learning Center does not receive financial assistance from the Ministry of Education. In order to provide meals for the students and to offset utilities and teachers salary, s tudents are required to pay a small school fee. The fee is $5 US per week, which is approximately $25 US per month. We are requesting your support for the Andrew Dixon Foundation Adopt a Student program. For approximately $1 per day, you would help to keep the doors of this noble institution open and pay some of the teachers salary. This will also ensure that these youth will develop to become productive members of their communities and by extension will be able to make positive contributions to the society. Your donation can be a one-time payment of $300 annually or quarterly payments of $75. We are also suggesting that companies which can afford to adopt more than one (1) child, should consider doing so.
