It was hot and sunny day. Ah Ming and Ronny were on their way home from school. They were joking and chatting happily as they passed by an orchard. The owner of the orchard was a hardworking farmer, Mr. Lee. It was lunch time and there was nobody in the orchard. Ronny stared longingly at the ripe fruits on the trees. There were mangosteens, durians and rambutans hanging from the tree branches. The trees were all laden with ripening fruits. It was a lovely sight to behold. Ronny was tempted. The sweet rambutans must be very sweet, he thought. The rambutans trees were near the fence. The branches were heavy with hundreds of bunches of bright red rambutans. The rambutans certainly looked delicious. Without thinking, and quick as a flash of lightning, Ronny hopped over the fence and in seconds he was up the nearest rambutan tree. Ah Ming was shocked. He advised Ronny to get out of the orchard. Ronny was too busy to listen. He plucked a few bunches of rambutans and threw them outside the fence. Suddenly, they heard a dog barking loudly. Mr. Lee was back! Ronny panicked. He lost his balance and plunged from the tree. He was groaning in pain and Ah Ming could not do anything but watch. Mr. Lee arrived to see Ronny crying and holding his leg. He could not get up. Mr. Lee was worried even though he was very furious with the boy. He quickly called Ronnys parents. Ronnys parents apologized and paid him some money for the rambutans. They sent him to the nearest hospital. After the incident, Ronny suffered a broken leg. He had a cast on his right leg and he walked with crutches for six months. He learned his lesson. Never take what does not belong to you.
