WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT SUPERVISOR

Definition Under direction of District Management, Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor serves as the Chief Plant Operator, oversees and directs the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant, laboratory and staff. Distinguishing Characteristics The WWTP Supervisor shall be the Chief Plant Operator of the Districts wastewater treatment plant and shall be in direct communication with management and be responsible for compliance with the Districts Waste Discharge Requirements and operator certification program. Essential Functions Maintains records and reports of treatment plant operations Inspects treatment plant equipment and processes Provides management with WWTP updates Performs quality control for treatment process and equipment Performs monitoring and reporting per the current waste discharge requirements Ensures compliance with the regulations of the office of operator certification Maintains inventory of parts and equipment Ensures compliance with laboratory methods and procedures Evaluates test data and reports to verify proper operation, determine deficiencies and recommends adjustments and/or corrective actions Assigns tasks, inspects and evaluates the work of WWTP operators Performs preventive maintenance for treatment plant Performs repairs and maintenance for treatment plant Operates equipment and vehicles and ensures compliance with safety requirements Responds to emergency sewer stoppage calls and works with the public Completes sewer maintenance, overflow and emergency reports Performs construction inspection Other Functions Performs duties of a wastewater treatment plant operator as needed Performs duties of a wastewater treatment plant lab analyst as needed Performs other job-related duties as assigned Work Schedule Schedule shall be a 40-hour work week and periodically include weekends and holidays. Additional hours may be occasionally required. Shift work may be implemented in the future. Required to be on-call for emergencies Employment Standards Completion of High School or possession of G.E.D. One (1) year of experience in a supervisory role

Licenses Required Must posses at the time and appointment and maintain a Grade IV or Grade V Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator classification issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board (State Certification). Must obtain within twelve (12) months of appointment and maintain a Grade I Laboratory Analyst certification issued by the California Water Environment Association. Must posses and maintain a valid California Class C drivers license without restrictions and be insurable. Additional Requirements Must reside within thirty (30) minutes driving time from the Districts wastewater treatment plant facility located 28970 Seventh Standard Road in Shafter, CA. Knowledge of treatment plant operations, meters and gauges, laboratory analyses, use of hand tools common to the trade, treatment plant and collection system equipment and maintenance. Ability to write clear and concise reports, maintain records, follow oral and written directions, perform basic algebraic calculations and apply mathematical aptitudes, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, read and understand maintenance and low-level technical manuals and apply knowledge, operate and repair treatment plant and collection system equipment, communicate effectively with the public, industry and other governmental agencies Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Salary Monthly base salary: Incentive salary: $4,671 - $5,702 (Flat Rate) Additional 5% availability pay Additional 5% Grade I Laboratory Analyst certification Additional 5% Grade V WWTP operator certification
