NEW POLICY FOR ALL FIVE LEVELS OF UNITAR ENGLISH COURSES A measure to improve the command of the English

language among the students of UNITAR has recently been implemented. This measure will involve the minimum requirement for all students to be eligible to proceed to the next level and applicable to all five levels of UNITAR English courses i.e; ULC 0013, ULC 0123, ULD 1133, ULB 1143 and ULB 1153. Previously, the minimum requirement for students to be eligible to proceed to the next level was set at Grade D (Pass). With effect from January 2006 Semester, the University has decided to upgrade the minimum grade of eligibility for all students to Grade C (Satisfactory). This new policy, however, will not affect the students result as he/she is still graded as a PASS upon attaining Grade D. Nevertheless, he/she CANNOT proceed to the next level of the English course and MUST repeat the course to improve on the acquired grade. EXAMPLE; Student 1 gets a Grade D for his Total Overall Result at the end of a semester for ULC 0123. According to the University Grading System, his/her equivalent level of achievement is a Pass (D). Student 1s result will be stated as a Pass. He/she does not fail the course - ULC 0123. However, Student 1 CANNOT register for the next level of the course - ULD 1133 the following semester and MUST repeat the ULC 0123 course. Student 1 MUST achieve a minimum of Grade C in order to proceed to the next level of the English course. For further enquiry, please contact the Centre at 03 7809 2139 or fax us at 03 7880 2409.
