Malaria
Malaria
is an infectious disease caused by a parasite, Plasmodium, which is transmitted via the bites of infected mosquitoes. (Female Anopheles) In the human body, the parasites multiply in the liver, and then infect red blood cells.
The
name "mal aria" (meaning "bad air" in Italian) was first used in English in 1740 by H. Walpole when describing the disease.
Period - The period between the mosquito bite and the onset of the malarial illness is usually one to three weeks (seven to 21 days).
