XIAO-PING CHEN

Xiao-Ping Chen (Ph.D., University of Illinois) is Professor in


the Department of Management and Organization at
University of Washington. She has served as faculties at
Indiana University and the Hong Kong University of Science
and Technology. Her current research interests include
cross-cultural management, group dynamics, individual and
group decision-making, conflict management, leadership,
organizational citizenship behavior and employee turnover. Her research has been
published in Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Academy of
Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Management Science,
Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of International Business Studies,
Management and Organization Review, Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology,
Journal of International Cultural Relations, Journal of Experimental Social
Psychology, and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. She teaches MBA,
EMBA and Ph.D. courses such as Organizational Behavior, Human Resource
Management, Groups and Teams, and Managing across Cultures. Xiao-Ping is a
recipient of the Dean’s International Research Award, the Charles Summer Teaching
Award, and the Outstanding Ph.D. Mentor Award.

Xiao-Ping also loves to write in Chinese. She is the author of two Chinese books:
Managing across Cultures 《跨文化管理》and The Art of Balancing Work and Life
《平衡—工作和生活的艺术》.

Xiao-Ping Chen is currently the President of the International Association for Chinese
Management Research (IACMR). She is also the Co-Chair of the Department of
Management and Organization at University of Washington. Within the Academy of
Management, she has served as Representative-at-Large of the 2001-2004 Executive
Committee of the Organizational Behavior Division.
