EDISON BEACONS LEADERSHIP APPLICATION 2013-2014

Edison Beacons Leadership Mission:

The Edison Beacons Leadership Team will help cast and implement the vision of Beacons after-school activities at Edison. The students will serve as leaders for their peers, Edison Beacons and the Metro-wide Beacons Leadership Team with younger students. They will help Beacons engage the Edison Community, including students, staff, parents and the community.

Beacons Leadership Informs

After-school activities at Edison Leadership opportunities for Beacons Network (including Leadership Retreat, Youth Advisory Councils, events)

Membership and Structure:

10-15 Edison Students Beacons Center Staff and emerging high school leaders 4-5 youth/adult teams representing committees Meets two hours once per week after-school plus fulfill other duties based on committee

Terms of Service
1 year term from September 2013 June 2014 Some students will have opportunity at Leadership Camp at YMCA Camp Ihduhapi

Payment
Youth will be compensated up to 5 hours/week at $8/hour (See Beacons Center staff for more details)

FOCUS AREAS (Committees):

Communications: spreading the word about after-school activities by print, electronically, and word of mouth Community Partnerships: Supporting active partnerships, bridging the gap between students & teachers Logistics: attention to detail, planning events, coordinating activities
