Why I love Battersea

One of my earliest memories is visiting my Grandma when I was four years old. She lived on Latchmere Road. I remember Battersea as an exciting place: hundreds of trains, great parks with outdoor concerts, and of course, Battersea Dogs and Cats home. Some things dont change. I moved back to Battersea in my early twenties, working in the financial sector and saving every penny to scrape together a deposit for a house. Other things do change. My grandmas flat was sold for a few thousand pounds in the late 80s. It would now fetch well over half a million! Its why housing is my priority for Battersea, along with affordable childcare and jobs. Ill be working flat-out, offering a new vision for Battersea, to end the barriers that hold far too many people back in life. If you would like to discuss further on the phone, over a coffee or even over a game of tennis, please dont hesitate to get in touch! Yours,

Backing Battersea this summer

From Wimbledon tennis to Wandsworth street parties, its been a great summer to get outdoors and celebrate the best of Battersea

Housing is my priority
Im lucky. I was recently able to scrape together enough for a deposit and buy a home on the Shaftesbury Estate, where I live with my wife, Shalu. We love it, but like many Battersea residents, its been quite a journey. We rented some great flats and some terrible flats. Weve borrowed money for the first months rent, nagged our landlord to fix the shower and fought with estate agents to return our deposits. Good quality housing is everything, whether you own a place, rent or live in social housing. I will work for tighter regulation of letting agencies and more shared ownership opportunities. We need to build more houses and make sure all new developments have affordable homes for local people.

Will campaigns to keep Battersea Park Adventure Playground free; completes the London Marathon; signs a 65th birthday card for the NHS; and discusses new homes with councillor Tony Belton Will enjoys the Summer Scheme activities in Battersea Park Selling cakes at the STORM stall during a Doddington Estate street party.
