Set up an E-retail system where users can browse the catalogues in virtual space which will cut down on inventory costs and enable customers to order goods online. Make the process more customer centric by recording all cash transactions to improve response to customer requirements by employing data analytics techniques. They should develop Data warehouses and marts for data analysis. Organize the data at a centralized location so as to remove inconsistencies in formats and facilitate information interchange across functions. Develop an EDI (Electronic data interchange) system which will reduce inventory by processing orders timely and accurately. Computerized matching of invoices will eliminate human errors and manual labor overhead.

Establish a core competency by training staff in the requisite IT skills in order to gain competitive advantage that cannot be imitated by competitors easily. Exploit Web technology by creating an n-tier client-server architecture providing user interface and an application server which would realize the benefits of information access, data sharing, scalability and software maintenance and reuse. Develop a WAN that connects all the stores which will support the applications and facilitate real-time data sharing.

Implement a remote data access network to ensure realtime reporting of information by mobile users. Implement a CGI system that will integrate all the platforms into a common base that can assist in more effective data interchange. This will ensure system scalability, maintenance and software component reuse.
