Character Report: Mercutio

What does your character want in this scene? In this scene, Mercutio is convinced a fight is inevitable no matter what words are said. Therefore, he intentionally provokes Tybalt, and eventually draws his sword. What is your characters motivation for doing what he or she does? Mercutio does not believe that there is a peaceful solution to Tybalts challenge. What obstacles stand in his or her way? His loyalty and friendship to Romeo puts in a precarious predicament with Tybalt and Benvolio. Consequently, he feels obliged to defend his friends honor. What happens when your character confronts these obstacles? It is pretty simple, he gets himself killed. Are there any distinctive elements in your characters way of speaking? (Is his or her language elaborate, plain, musical, or what?) My characters speaks in metaphors and double meanings. What is your character thinking during this scene? (How does he or she react to the other characters and events? Throughout this scene, Mercutio believes that they are bound to quarrel and draw swords. He is also utterly shocked at Romeos passive response to Tybalts challenge. He acts rashly and starts a fight with Tybalt. The way he speaks is very intriguing
