Colleen Nixon to Headline the Saturday in the Park September Concert Event Hosted by the Downtown Tallahassee Business Association & Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority
Tallahassee, Fla. The Downtown Tallahassee Business Association (DTBA) and the Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority (TDIA) will host the sixth concert in their 2013 Saturday in the Park Concert Series on Saturday, September 7, 2013, from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. EDT in Ponce de Leon Park, Tallahassee. Headlining this months event will be Colleen Nixon. The Saturday in the Park Concert Series is free and open to the public. Colleen Nixon is a Tallahassee native folk/pop/jazz recording artist who placed her musical roots in Nashville, Tenn., while attending Belmont University. In Spring 2007, Nixon won Belmont's Writer's Showcase and earned the prestigious recognition of the Best of the Best Showcase. With fresh, piano-based musical timbres reminiscent of Norah Jones, Nixons knack for poetic melodies calls to mind the likes of Joni Mitchell. Her personality invites the audience to listen as friends, not merely fans, and lends to an intimate feel, which is captured on her CDs, Love is in the Details and Lake Ellas Sky.
