Creative Writing: I understand the power of imagery and can use imagery, and can use a concept map to plan my work . Vocabulary: I know how to use sentence structure, roots of words to understand meaning of new vocabulary, Non Fiction Writing : I understand and know how to write a good introduction and conclusion. Grammar: I correctly use transitive and intransitive verbs

Reading Skills
I can explain the way the conicts between characters in the Giver relates to my world. I can explain the different techniques the author uses in the Giver to convey her meaning

I can explain the role of story telling in creating culture, I can explain how and why the community I am studying divided itself both geographically and socially I can compare and evaluate two different ways societies solve conicts based on different cultural expectations
I can use the earth charter to think about and react to interactions around me

I know how to work with and compare to primary sources I know how to read and criticize a news article and connect current events to the time period I am studying in the past I know how to work with different kinds of maps to explain and compare the ways that different societies are organized I know how to conduct and read an interview.
