VII. Course No. and Course Title: Lit 207- Teaching Literacy in the Elem. Grades Through Literature

Prerequisites: None

School Year/ Semester Offered: 2nd Semester 2021-2022

Course Description: This course will focus on Children’s Literature in English to include riddles, poetry, stories drama and other written works
as an avenue to teach English language. Teaching methodologies in the use of literature shall be emphasized.

Course Credit/ Unit: 3 UNITS

VIII. Course Outcomes:


At the end of semester the students must have:
1. achieved deeper and wider insights about developing literacies among children using literature.
2. explained significant concepts and characteristics of the literacies and how these are developed through literature;
3. created presentation of lessons using innovative techniques for the new literacies;
4. manifested awareness on selected children’s literacy pieces;
5. understood certain values imbibed in children’s literature used in literacy skills development; and
6. demonstrated appreciation in the children’s literary pieces presented.
