Teaching and Learning Activities

1. What makes a person Filipino? If a person has Filpino parents but born in another country, is
he/she still a Filipino? What about if a person with foreign parents is born and raised in
Philippines, he/ she Filipino? Explain your reasoning.
 There is so many ways that makes person Filipino like being born and having blood of a
Filipino. Having also the values, traits, characteristics of a Filipino. Yes the person can be
considered Filipino because he or she is full blooded Filipino .Yes, there is a certain rule or
constitutional rights that he or she will be considered Filipino because he can get a
citizenship if they comply the qualification. If he or she can adapt to the culture and
traditions he or she will considered a Filipino.

2. Have you interacted with people who have different culture from yours? How was your
interaction with them? Was it productive? Was it respectful? What could you done for a better
interaction?

 You can interact people with different culture in crowded places like malls or tourist
spots like mine so my answer is yes. You can distinguish people with different culture by
their dress, the way they talk and the way they approach you. I the beginning you will
be struggling but soon you will be comfortable talking to them. We can understand each
other because he was able to comprehend to what I am saying. While having
conversation I feel like there is no superior nor inferior it is like we have no differences.
Both must consider their differences and if you have the ability to adjust do so.

3. What is your attitude toward people who have a different culture from yours? Do you celebrate
how they are different from you? Do you look down on them?

 Respectful is the best attitude toward people having different culture from yours
because if you respect them they can respect you also. People needs to understand
different cultures because everyone have they own unique way of living not everybody
have the culture like the one that you are raised with.

4. Consider regional discrimination in the Philippines: If a woman speaks Cebuano or bisaya in

Manila, she is often assume to be a maid or yaya; If a man speaks Tagalog with a heavy, provincial
accent, he is often assumed to be a laborer, driver, or involved is some form of manual or servile
labor. What are your own discriminatory practices?

 The person must be punish because he judge a person by only hearing his language not

and disgrace to the person. He or she also must apologize sincerely.

6. Although reading education in the Philippines aims to develop Functional/Practical literacy in
learners, what level of literacy is being developed when Classroom practices focus more on
memorization rather than understanding and application?

 Consider it. Would we be able to work in reality without memorization, regardless, we

have to and really retain a couple of things. With the appearance of advanced cells, a
great many people presumably do not submit their companions' telephone numbers to
memory any longer, yet we as a whole need to realize our own telephone number,
address, government backed retirement number and straightforward things like that.
We have retained fundamental signs so as to drive, for example, that a red octagon
implies stop and a yellow triangle is an admonition or the like. Maybe we want to find
anything - truly, that is truly cool - yet it is basically not handy. We should memorize.
