Educ 206 –Building and Enhancing New Literacies Across the Curriculum

Learning Portfolio Entry No.1

Who's influenced me to take this degree is that my teacher in high school. She teach with a love and
care to her students. She is the kindest teacher that I have been encountered in my whole life as a
student. When her students have a difficulty in learning, she talk and teach it calmly and softly. So,
because of these characteristics of her, she influenced me to take this degree and when I will be a
teacher, I want to be like her. A teacher who love and have care for her students.

I choose West Visayas State University because it was a prestigious school and one of the top schools
not only in Iloilo City but all across the country. It's one of the premiere school and one of my goals as
well is to enter the College of Education in this institution. The tuition fee was also cheaper at the
same time it offers good quality education. The school is known to have been producing the best
teachers. Also with the influence of my family and relatives, I ended up enrolling in West Visayas State
University.

My goal in life is that first, finishing my studies in college and get a diploma or a license. Second goal is
that finding a job, so that I could help my parents when I already have a job. Lastly, I want to build a
house for my family in order for us to live well.

WVSU can help me in achieving my goals because they are the one who shaped me to become a
better person and they can help me by the way of giving me a knowledge that I will bring in my life.

As a student of WVSU my expectations from this course is that, it will be able to help me to
understand and appreciate more the profession that I have chosen. As well as giving me realizations
that we must really improve and develop our elementary education thoughts to have a better
economic status. I know this will be an exciting, challenging and interesting course. I also expect that I
will learn values that will not only add on to my knowledge but as well as develop me to become a
better person as well. I will do my best in this course and hoping that all the expectations will be met
at the end of the term. I am expecting that the instructor is kind and understanding during this
unfortunate time of pandemic. I hope the instructor would utilize effective teaching methods that
would both engage us to do our best and lead us to learning without being overly strict. I also expect
that he/she will provide me an opportunity to learn and understand the concepts and significant ideas
in a way that I can understand and give adequate feedback on my abilities, in order that I can apply
this knowledge and achieve my goal.

What can instructors expect from me is that I am a responsible and obedient student and I always
pass an output on time. I will do my best to become a good student, I will follow the rules and respect
my teachers and my fellow classmates.
