Teaching Profession

- The teaching profession is an

occupational field in education
that is directly responsible for the
formation of young minds and
hearts.
-Teachers are the shadows of parents
showing love and seldom
admonishing, reaching out to be
creators narrating noble deeds, like a
goldsmith hammering to enrich
skills and moulding tiny tots to
perfection. Teaching profession is a
noble one every teacher must play an
important role in making a child to
realize their dreams.
- Through Teaching Profession,
one can earn a better pay scale.
Teachers encourage students to be
dedicated to studies and passionate
about their careers. Teaching is a
profession and a mode to make
students have more potential and
learn important lessons even about
life like respect, sharing, ethical
values, and cultures.
- Teaching is the most desirable
Profession nowadays. Teaching
Profession includes fun and
learning together. Being in the
teaching profession doesn’t mean
you have to share your
knowledge. Sometimes teachers
themselves learn something new
with teaching experience.
- Teachers play a vital role in
student’s life by helping them
achieve their goals..
RA 4670, otherwise known as the
Magna Carta for Public School
Teachers, details the rights, privileges
and benefits of teachers such as:

1. Tenure of Office
2. Consent for Transfer Transportation
Expenses
3. Safeguards in Disciplinary
Procedures
4. No Discrimination
5. Married Couples to be
employed in the same locality
6. Academic Freedom;
7. Not more than 6 hours in actual
classroom teaching;
8. Additional compensation for
activities outside normal duties;
9. Salaries comparable to other
occupations to ensure teachers a
reasonable standard of life for
themselves and their families;
10. Salaries appropriated by local
governments not to be less than
those paid to teachers of the
national government;
11. Cost of living allowances;
12. Special Hardship Allowances;
13. Medical Examination free of
charge once a year during the
teacher's professional life;
14. Prohibition of unauthorized
deduction from teacher's salary;
15. Study Leave;
16. Indefinite Leave;
17. Salary Increase upon Retirement
and
18. Freedom to establish or join
organization of their choice.
Here is the updated list of benefits
and privileges and Teachers under
the new Salary Standardization
Law(SSL) V signed by President
Rodrigo Duterte, Magna Carta for
Teachers, Civil Service
Commission (CSC) Issuances and
other existing laws.
1. Performance-Based Bonus (PBB)
-This is under E.O. 80 S. 2012 which is
supposed to arrive from Feb. to March. This
consists of 50-60% of the Basic Salary of
teachers.
2. Clothing Allowance
-This comes in the amount of Php 6,000.00
and is bound to arrive every April of the year.
3. Mid-Year Bonus
- This is under DBM No. 546 and is equal to a
1-month basic salary. We will wait for this
every May.
4. PVP (Rule XVI of the Omnibus Civil
Service Rules, Sec. 6)
-70 days PVP during summer and Christmas
break. This is only for those who have
rendered full services during the school year.
5. Teaching Supplies Allowance (Chalk
Allowance)
-This comes in the amount of Php 5,000.00
for this year. This will come out June – July.
6. DepEd Anniversary Bonus
-This is under DBM No. 452 and is worth
Php 3,000.00 which is due in October.
7. Year-end Bonus
-This is equal to 1 Month of Basic
Salary and is due in November.
8. Cash Gift
-This is in the amount of Php
5,000.00 and is due in November.
9. PEI
-This is also amounting to Php
5,000.00 and expect to receive this in
December.
10. Special Hardship Allowance
-15% – 25% of Monthly Salary
and this is for teachers assigned in
hardship posts.
11. Leave Privileges
-Maternity Leave, Paternity
Leave, and Study Leave
12. Step Increment
-Granted for 3 years of
continuous satisfactory service in
the position.
13. Loyalty Cash incentive
-Php 5,000.00 – Php 10,000.00
10th Year in service every 5 years
of after 10 years
14. Vacation Service Credits
 Therefore, choosing the Teaching
Profession offers endless career
opportunities. However, Teaching
is not the only Profession; in fact,
it is the activity to serve education
