TakingleapsoffaithhasbeenthethemeforusatSouthwestHighSchoolasitshouldbe!
Whiletaking6kidstocamplastsummer,wedecidedtotakeyetanotherleapoffaithand
asktheLordfor40ofourkidstocometocampwithusthissummer.Tonosurprise,Hewas
faithfuland41ofourhighschoolfriendsmadeittoColoradoforthebestweekoftheirlives.
IcouldnthelpbutberemindedofJohn11:40whenJesussaid,DidInottellyouthatifyoubelieve,youwillseethe
gloryofGod?TheGloryofGodwasseenindeed.YourprayersandsupportwasundoubtedlyusedfortheKingdom
thissummerandwecannotbemorethankfultohaveyoubeapartofthisministrywithus.
ThebestweekofourliveswasRilledwithfacepaintandobstaclecourses,breakfastinbed,104holesof
Frisbeegolf,sittingonahighropescourseforthreehours,horsebackridingthroughtheRockyMountainsandso
muchmore.However,thiswasnotthebestweekofthesekidslivesbecauseofallofthosegreatthings.Asallof
ourleaderswouldsaythiswasthemostexhaustingweekoftheirownlives.Yetevenalloureffortsofself-sacriRice,
energy,andfalsehumilitydidntmakethisthebestweekofthesekidslives.ThiswasthebestweekbecauseGod
waspresentandrevealedHimself.Thiswasaweekoflaughter,tears,confession,pain,morelaughter,healingand
freedom.Andasleaders,wesatbackandwatchedJesusliterallybringdarknesstolightascountlessofourhigh
schoolfriendsconfessedpainthathasbeenlockedupinsideofthemforyears.Asaresult,dozensofthosesame
friendsexperiencedfreedominChristfortheRirsttimeintheirlivesandbeganarelationshipwithHim.
Amongstthepainandsufferingthatourhighschoolfriendsshared,GodpromisesthatHewillmakehimself
knownintruth,andthetruthwillsetHispeoplefree.WhatajoyandgiftitwastositbackandwatchtheSpirit
revealhimselftoourfriends.Oneofthegirlsinmycabin,BJ,gaveherlifetotheLordfortheRirsttime.Glorywas
revealedtoherasshepulledmeasideafteracabintime,lookedatmewitheyesRilledwithhopeandsaid,Brigette,
IthinkGodallowsustogothroughreallyhardtimesothatwecannotonlycryouttoHimandgetclosertoHim,but
sowecansharethemwitheachotherandloveeachotherbetter.Thebestkindofrelationshipsformwhenweare
exposed.Andthisiswhyyou'reaYoungLifeleader,right?BecauseTHISistruelife.Beingvulnerable,makingreal
relationships,andlivingthelifethatJesushasforus.Thisiswhatyoutradedyouroldlifeforthislifeoffreedom
andjoy?"
Ihaverevealedyoutothosewhomyougavemeoutoftheworld.Theywereyours;yougavethemtome
andtheyhaveobeyedyourword.-John17:6
IcantthankyouenoughforyourcontributionandIwishIcouldshowyouhowmuchofanimpactyouhad
onthesekids.Becauseofyou,wewereabletotellJusticethatpeoplewereprayinglikecrazyallsemesterforhim.
Justicehadahardtimehearingthat.Justiceisa63220-poundquarterbackthatwasalmostbroughttotears
hearingthatpeoplecaredabouthimandlovedhim.WerejoiceintheopportunitytheLordhasplacedinfrontofus
tocarryoutHisgospelandwork.Youvemadeaneternalimpactonthesekidslivesbygivingthemtheonce-in-a-
lifetimeopportunityofcamp.WeareexcitedtoseewhattheLordhasinstoreforSouthwestthisfallsemester.
