1. Adjectives: When using more than one adjective to describe a noun place the adjectives in the following order before the noun. We usually use no more than three adjectives preceding a noun. a. Opinion and general description Example: nice, funny, lovely b. Dimension / Size / Weight Example: big, small, heavy c. Age Example: old, new, young, ancient d. Shape Example: round, square, oval e. Color Example: green, red, blue, black f. Country of origin Example: Italian, Polish, English g. Material Example: wooden, cotton, woollen, plastic h. Purpose and power Example: walking (socks), tennis (racquet), electric (iron)
