TASK EIGHT: Music Magazine Research Representation

SYNOPSIS: Representation is an important in media as it informs the audience of the genre. Therefore it is extremely important that you research representation as it will dictate how your magazine will look. TASK: Pick 4 music magazine brands (Q, NME, TOTP, Kerrang!, MOJO, Vibe, Clash) and find a collection of images from the magazines Identify the representations and always think WHAT DOES THIS REPRESENT?

NB this is not a paragraph per point rather a comment on each if it is relevant

o o o o o o o o o o What is the colour scheme? What fonts are used? What is the mode of address? What language is used? How are the artists/bands dressed? What camera angles are used? What are the people wearing in the magazine? What is the important of continuing the artists/bands brand? What sort of lifestyle is being promoted? Is it a positive or negative representation? Are all the artists represented the same?

PRESENTATION IDEAS: Create cartoons posters on comic life But the pictures in and then add comments like they are talking.

GRADING: A/A* - the research and presentation will be excellent. Terminology will be used extensively. Representation must be studied in depth with terminology used extensively. B/C the research and presentation will be good. Terminology will be used. Representation will be discussed and mentioned in all the research. D The research and video will be proficient. It will be complete but the detail may be limited.

E Work will be complete. Attempts will be made to complete the work and some magazine representational discussions will be evident.
