Present Simple - ACTIVE

We use the active when the subject of the sentence does the action: They often build house in this town. Jenny reads the newspaper every day. Forest fires kill a lot of animals. My father writes books.

Present Simple - PASSIVE


We use the passive when the person who does something is not known or not important. Some new houses are built regularly. Things are often stolen! Animals are often killed by fires. Cakes are eaten every day.
