in Local Communities. The objectives for this unit include learning the significance of national, state and local landmarks; identify selected poems, songs, statues and paintings that are examples of local cultural heritage and learn the significance of various ethnic and cultural celebrations. Round Rock has a rich history that is chronicled throughout the city. As a home project, we are asking that the children research the history of Round Rock. You can make this fun by taking your child downtown or to other areas where they can witness these landmarks. They will present their findings in any format. It can be a power point, a poster, a poem, a collection of photographs with descriptions or any other way. Be creative! We will give extra credit if you do this in Spanish! It is truly a flexible project meant to make the students aware of the rich history of our city. A rubric is attached. The goal is that they earn 4 point for each category. PROYECTO FAMILIAR Para entregar el lunes 7 de octubre, 2013 Padres, En Estudios Sociales estamos estudiando la unidad: Celebrar la cultura en nuestra comunidad local. Los objetivos de esta unidad son aprender la significancia de hitos, monumentos o smbolos nacionales, estatales y locales; identificar poemas, canciones estatuas o trabajos que representan la herencia cultural; y aprender la significancia de celebraciones tnicas y culturales. La historia de Round Rock es representada a travs de la ciudad por medio de estatuas, edificios historiales, parques y otros monumentos. Como proyecto familiar, queremos que los nios investiguen la historia de Round Rock. Una opcin es que lleve a su nio/a al centro de Round Rock o a otros lugares de la ciudad en donde ellos pueden ver por si mismos los hitos o monumentos histricos de la ciudad. La presentacin de este proyecto puede varear. Sea creativo. Puede ser un poster/cartel, un poema, una coleccin de fotografas con sus descripciones o cualquier otra manera. Lo pueden hacer en espaol. La meta de este proyecto es que los nios se den cuenta de la rica historia que se encuentra en nuestra ciudad. Incluimos una rbrica para que se guie.
