JUST PASSING THROUGH!

Marina Neighborhood
On Sunday, October 20th 30,000 runners, mostly women, will be running in a race that cruises through your neighborhood. They are participating in the tenth annual Nike Womens Marathon & Half Marathon. Since they will be in a hurry, they wont be there long! Theyre running in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and are on track to raise millions of dollars for this very worthy organization. The event starts at 6:30 AM in Union Square, and proceeds along the Embarcadero, through Fishermans Wharf, Bay Street, Marina Blvd, the Presidio, Sea Cliff and out to the Great Highway. Participants will run through Golden Gate Park, return on to the Great Highway and run out to Brotherhood Way and back along Lake Merced Blvd. They will finish headed north on the Great Highway between Lincoln Avenue and Fulton. This is a slightly different marathon course as in 2012. Participants will be running through your neighborhood between 6:30 AM- 8:30 AM. The largest group of runners will be between 6:45 and 7:45am. We hope that you will step outside and cheer them on! They will love the support. Participants will run along Marina Blvd in the westbound lanes and on the sidewalk. Marina Blvd. westbound will be closed from 5am-10am. Traffic will be allowed in one lane eastbound only. Local residents will have access as the runner flow allows, however roads into Fort Mason, Marina Green and the SF Yacht Club will be restricted. The San Francisco Police Department will monitor the course and handle traffic. We recommend local residents use streets other than Marina Blvd. The parking on the north side of Marina Blvd will be posted no-parking. Please check the no-stopping signs on the course in your neighborhood. Towing will begin on the course as early as 11:00 PM. We want to thank you for your patience and understanding.
