seusslanding.weebly.com Reading: In Unit 1, week 3 we are talking about growing up. Animal babies learn from their parents just like we do. Squirrels learn to jump, bears learn to climb, and dolphins learn to swim. Like us, animals change and grow! This week we have also begun to review the short /i/ sound. We have introduced short /i/ word families like in, -it, -iss, -ig, and ip. Math: In math, we have moved on to Topic 2Understanding Subtraction. We have spent the week finding missing parts such as 4 + ? = 8. To find this missing part, I can subtract 4 from 8 and find the missing number (4!!). Science: This week we have taken a trip into the past and researched different scientists. We have also looked at present scientists. Isaac Newton developed the theory of gravitation. Jane Goodall studied chimpanzees. Alexander Graham Bell invented the phone! With this new knowledge, we wrote about what we would want to study if we become famous scientists! Social Studies: This week, we spoke about history. History is the study of past events and people, like the first man on the moon. The march for equality and the man who sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 3 ships and more!! We researched people of history and wrote about them!! Health: We are continuing to talk about being healthy! This week, we made an accordion book of some of the things we have learned about being healthy.
