seusslanding.weebly.com Reading: In Unit 1, week 4 we have be discussing r blend words such as: Fran, trick, brick, crab, drain and more. We have also added the words come, that, on, & that to our First Grade sight word family!! This week our main topic of discussion was pets. We read a nonfiction story by Gibbs Davis called Animal House. This story told us about the many different animals that have been pets in the White House. President Roosevelts family loved snakes!! Math: In math, we are still in Topic 2- Understanding Subtraction. We have spent this week working on subtraction stories. Amy has 6 crayons. Ben has 4 crayons. How many more crayons does Amy have then Ben? 6-4=2. Amy has 2 more crayons then Ben? DONT FORGET SUNSHINE MATH HAS STARTED! Science: In science this week, we have begun to talk about objects in the sky! During the day you can observe a blue sky with clouds and the sun. At night you can observe a black sky with stars and the moon. We used our observation skills and illustrated what we see in the daytime and nighttime sky! Social Studies: This week we spoke about time. We took a look at how calendars are set up. Calendars help us remember past and future holidays and events. Our class project was to create an October calendar and mark down all the important school events this month!
