We also added the words: no, of, some, who & eat to our list of growing first grade sight words!! This week in grammar we spoke about indentifying contractions with nt. We also reviewed adding an ed to words as well as, s to show ownership! Last week we spoke about nouns (Person, place, thing). This week we added an s and es to the end to make our nouns plural. Math: Monday we took our Topic 3 test! The rest of the week, we moved onto Topic 4: Addition Facts to 12. We are discussing adding doubles (6+6) and near doubles (4+4+1)! Science: In science this week we are discussing gravity. What goes up, must come down!! We conducted an experiment to see if a large group of pencils could stay up in a small cup. Because the mass of the pencils is greater, it causes the cup to fall over!! As scientist, we had to find solutions to keep the cup from falling! Social Studies: This week we continued to talk about Fact and Fiction! This week, we compared stories about real frogs (Dumpy!) and stories about fiction frogs (Kermit!).
