 COMPUTER NETWORKING: IRC Chat Server and Client:
[Mentor: Harish Karnik, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur]
o I designed an IRC chat server+client based on standard IRC protocols that were
implemented in java.
o We implemented the routing protocols that we learned in the computer networks
course.
o Learnt practical Implementation of Link-state and other routing protocols.
 Compilers: a Pascal to C translator:

o We are implementing a translator that will convert a program written in Pascal to an
equivalent C program.
o All the standard techniques that we learn in the compiler design course.
 DBMS project In MySQL:

o We are simulating the credit system of a bank ensuring secure transactions and
efficient data management.
o It was originally an idea proposed for Megabucks(business and entrepreneurship
festival of IIT Kanpur)
 DataStructure and Algorithm Project:
[Mentor:Dr. Surendra baswana, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT
Kanpur]
o The project was to implement Binary Search Tree, Red Black Tree and van Emde
Boas tree in java and then compare the performance of these data structures for
maintaining a set of integers in the range [0, 216−1]. The execution time for Search
and Predecessor operations was used as a measure for performance.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

 I was a volunteer in various clubs including robotics and participated in robotics club of IIT
Kanpur workshops and events.
 Our team won gold medal in Water Polo, Basket ball, Football organised in UNMAAD in our
college twice and won UNMAAD 2007 and stood runners up in 2008.
 I was a volunteer in cultural festival of IIT Kanpur, Antargni06 in “Show management”, a cell
responsible for the smooth functioning of the various events.
 I was a National Cadet Corp (NCC) and under took the challenges that we were presented in
the training and my hobbies include roller skating and lawn tennis.
