OUR VISION
The Springfield Avenue-White Street Corridor is an essential transportation and economic corridor connecting both core business districts in the ChampaignUrbana area. We envision working with the community to produce building codes, traffic calming measures, and multiple transportation systems along this corridor that provide access from the University of Illinois campus to both core areas, while also providing local residents with an essential link between these communities. Moreover, we aim to devise a plan that allows for neighborhood identity, social cohesion, high-density living, and architectural diversity. All constituents needs are to be surveyed and addressed in an attempt to provide a range of solutions to the issues present in the corridor.
SIGNAGE
Signs shall enhance visual harmony of development and conform to the character of the community
TRAFFIC
Traffic calming measures and the widening of sidewalks should be implemented to improve the pedestrian experience
LANDSCAPE
Landscape requirements such as street trees, benches, and planters will vary based on street classifications in order to create a unified sense of place
BUILDING FORM
All buildings will have a sense of scale, richness of detail, and quality of construction that creates an overall image of the districts character
