Roland Barthes believes that there are 5 codes to form a meaning from

the narrative.
Action code Applies to any actions that implies a further narrative

action. Enigma codes Refers to any element in a story that is not explained and, therefore, exists as an enigma for the audience, raising questions that demand explication.
The 3 other codes arent really used for trailers however action and

enigma are the main elements to get the audience interested in coming to watch the film.
