PROJECT TITLE
A Review of the Application of Lean Six Sigma on DHL Global Forwarding

PROJECT OJECTIVE
This project mainly aims to enhance our understanding about the role and application of Six Sigma Quality Management in practice. We will be involved in the logistics industry with the application of Lean and Six Sigma. Through the project, the goal of getting more knowledge and further understanding of lean and Six Sigma integration in logistics industry will be realized. In terms of cost and time reduction in logistics industry, the change of situation after Lean Six Sigma application will be recognized. Meanwhile, the DMAIC methodology will be better understood through the cost and time reduction process.

PROJECT BACKGROUND
Deutsche Post DHL is the biggest logistics company in the world. For their customers the world over they also want to be the best, all the time. Like in any other company, there is always potential for improvement at Deutsche Post DHL. The difference between a good company and an excellent one is how this potential is unlocked and put to work. This is why, in 2007, DHL launched First Choice, a Groupwide service improvement program with the goal of providing nothing but excellent service in all areas of their business. First Choice therefore provides employees with everything they need in the form of a tried and true methodology that combines the Six Sigma and Lean approaches to business process improvement.
