A few months ago the City of Raleigh approved takeover and maintenance of the
private streets in your neighborhood. As a result, the "Commons HOA" was dissolved but
two items need to be resolved requiring your signature(s) on the enclosed petition form
provided by the City of Raleigh, Transportation Division.
Second, Up to now and in the interest of pedestrian safety, narrow roads, access
to homes by City of Raleigh emergency vehicles, snow removal or street cleaning
vehicles, coupled with the lack of sidewalks throughout the neighborhood, prohibited
vehicular parking on the streets within The Commons. In order for this safety control to
continue, it requires your approval and petition signature.
Please let us know if you have any questions concerning this information and we look
forward to receiving your signed petition soon.
Sincerely,
First, the 20 MPH signs installed by the (former) Commons HOA must be replaced with
City of Raleigh speed limit signs. The minimum City speed is 25 MPH which we request
based on the narrow roads, lack of sidewalks and in the interest of pedestrian safety. If
we take no action, the speed limit will be the standard City 35 MPH which we believe is
too fast for the narrow streets located in our subdivision.
Second, In the interest of pedestrian safety, narrow roads, access to homes and property
by City of Raleigh emergency vehicles, snow removal or street cleaning vehicles, coupled
with the lack of sidewalks throughout the neighborhood, prohibited vehicular parking on
the streets within The Commons. In order for this safety control to continue (now that
the City of Raleigh has taken over maintenance and control of our roads/streets), requires
us to request this petition.
