In the book, Hatchet by Gary Paulson, Brian, the main character, had many changes.

Brians first real change was a huge one. He realized that if you wanted to survive in the wilderness, you could not have self-pity. Your mindset must change from feeling sorry for yourself to survival. Another change Brian experienced was that he began to listen to all the sounds of the wilderness and pay attention to details. He was able to hear a sound and figure out which direction it was coming from. Brian saw and noticed animal tracks. Of course, his hope level was going up at this point. In conclusion, Brian changed a lot throughout the story.
