Title: Classroom Management Plan Date: Fall 2013 Artifact Description: My artifact is a classroom management plan that was

developed for a class called Guidance, Assessment, and Instruction in Early Childhood. This plan uses different techniques that I have seen used in classrooms throughout my time observing and during my pre-student teaching experience. ALIGNMENT Wisconsin Teacher Standard Alignment This experience best aligns with standard five of the Wisconsin Teacher Development and Licensure Standards which states: The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning and self-motivation. This experience aligns with standard five because the classroom management plan uses different strategies that encourage students to take control of their own learning experience. It holds students responsible for being a part of what they learn and engages them with each other to become active learners. The plan also is a means by which the teacher prevents situations that diminish intrinsic motivation and it helps the students become self-motivated. UW-Platteville School of Education Knowledge, Skills, and Disposition Statement Alignment This experience best aligns with KSD2.b. of the UW-P School of Education Knowledge, Skill, and Disposition statements which states: The candidate can create a classroom environment that establishes and maintains high expectations for all students to value content of course work, take pride in work by initiating improvements, and help peers. This experience best aligns with this standard because it holds students accountable for their own actions in the classroom. Because students are part of the expectation making process, they will hold each other accountable for good and poor choices. Secondary Alignments KS1.e.: Designs Coherent Instruction KSD2.a.: Creates an Environment of Respect and Rapport KSD2.b.: Establishes a Culture for Learning KSD2.c.: Manages Classroom Procedures KSD2.d.: Manages Student Behavior KS2.e.: Organizes Physical Space KS3.a.: Communicates Clearly and Accurately KS3.c.: Engages Students in Learning KSD3.d.: Provides Feedback to Students REFLECTION What I learned about teaching/learning:

It is important to engage students in learning. This keeps them excited about learning and trying new things. Students have high expectations of themselves and their classmates when they are active in the learning process. What I learned about myself as a prospective educator: Students can be motivated by including them in everyday decision making processes. This holds them accountable for their own actions in the classroom because they have set a high bar for themselves. It also keeps them active in the learning process and gives them more control of what they are learning.
