What is the best Hardware and Software for our Gamers Heaven?

The right hardware and software combination is very important for any new company.

Our new business is that of giving people who play video games a place for a few dollars an

hour, to play all the hottest games on the market, regardless of what gaming console or system or

what time it is in the morning. Our Company will allow for as many as two hundred computer

stations of pure gaming exuberance and even a patched theater sized screen to allow spectators to

watch in house tournaments or movies while they are playing the games. This essay is just an

overview of an experimental version of what is to come from our unnamed company.

Our company requires the capability of running two hundred gamming station (Pods.)

That means that we will have to have an adequate power supply. At each gamming station (or

Pod,) we will be running a gamming computer with dual graphics chips and 32’ 95 Watt, Flat

screen 1200-watt Multi-GPU-approved power supply, wireless mouse, wireless keyboard,

headphones and an 8-10 Watt gaming chair. Behind the counter, we will have two or three

customer service stations with custom point of sale software, which allows us to control the time

and payment of customers playing games as well as the theater sized patched tournament and

movie viewer. We will have Wi-Fi for parents and other customers wanting to surf the internet

while they wait or watch. We will have three servers and a gateway router. This amounts to about

2200 watts per station and 470000-watt Network power load. Which will lead us to require 26

NPC-88G2 Synaccess, netCommander, Remote Power Management System and 2250 Solar

Panels and one unit per pod RPF-120 MKII Reference Power Conditioner. (Alienware 2009;

Cisco 2009; Grant Fidelity 2009; Meyers & Thomas 2009; Solar Power Inc. 2009; Synaccess,

2009)

Our network will consist of 200, Area 51 750i, Alienware computers that will run Ubuntu

Linux with Virtual Machine running Windows Vista that is Ghost imaged to ensure stability

updated as necessary by in house technician connected to custom point of sale system network.

The L.A.N. type games and tournament games will be controlled by a separate server running

Red Hat Linux that will be patched to show games on the theater sized flat screen and with a

gaming system switch that is confidential between our company, Sony and Microsoft. The

L.A.N. internet interface will have a secure Apache Linux web front that will allow gamers in

their homes and at remote locations to connect to, watch and interact with Windows based games

playing on our tournament monitor. While a third Ubuntu Linux computer will control the Unix

Internet Gateway server for the Pods. We will require a T2 Internet connection line with coaxial

leads and hubs to allow for maximum bandwidth and throughput. (Alienware 2009; Apache

2009; Meyers & Thomas 2009; Microsoft 2009; Red Hat Linux 2009; Sony 2009; Ubuntu 2009;)

Our Network will run a Mesh Topology with all Pods switched between the Internet

access controller L.A.N. gaming controller and Internet access controller. Our customer service

stations will be connected with certain administrative security privileges to all network

connected servers to allow for real time security and network diagnostics. We will require a T2

Internet connection line with coaxial leads and hubs to allow for maximum bandwidth and

throughput.

Doing a study of the requirements and vendors of software, hardware, network

infrastructure and power supply will allow us to make an educated assessment of costs and for

analysis of our requirements. This is part of the process that an I.S. Professional might have to go

through to write a proposal for an interest holder to set up any company. The right hardware and

software combination is very important for our new company. This analysis is a preliminary

assessment; actual proposal will reflect most of presented information. This assessment is not to

be taken literally.
