1.

General Responsibilities:
a. Be familiar with the building and district information contained within this website. b. Hours are as follows: 7:45am-3:15pm Please see the Principal if you need to leave prior to 3:15pm Staff members are expected to be on time and will be held responsible for good order in the building at all times.

c. Attend all faculty/staff meetings, and be on time: Any exceptions or additions will be announced in advance Please see the Principal prior to the day of the meeting if you wish to have an item placed on the agenda for the faculty meeting.

d. Actively participate in plans to minimize tardiness e. Support efforts of fellow staff members to create a congenial, collaborative and positive climate at NBMS. Send positive notes to staff and students and watch the results. f. Consider carefully what you say. Confidentiality is a sensitive and serious issue with professional and legal responsibilities. Pass along information only when it enables that person to do his/her job better. g. Never leave your students unattended or send students to an unsupervised area. In case of dire emergencies, please have a neighboring teacher cover or request help from the office (extension 0). h. If you notice a problem, do something to correct it. Communicate concerns or suggestions to administrators, a BLT representative, or a CTA representative.

2. Attendance Procedures:
a. The classroom teacher must keep attendance during the class. Absences and tardies must be recorded in the computer attendance system.

b. Computer System Security: The School Tools program for attendance allows teachers and staff to access student demographic data, grades, and attendance information. Therefore, students should never be allowed to record attendance using the attendance program. Teachers must maintain computer security to prevent student access to this system.

c. Attendance records should be reviewed on a regular basis. Parents should be called when a pattern of absences is observed.

3. Classroom Responsibilities:
a. Protect your room and your belongings by locking your doors when you leave. Never leave keys or money in your desk or filing cabinet. Lock and close all windows when you exit the room for the evening. b. During the passing of classes, please assist in the monitoring of the hallways. Your assistance in monitoring the bathrooms would be appreciated. c. Communicate and expectation to you students that leaving the class is a rare occurrence and should only be requested in an emergency situation. d. The student agenda pass MUST be completed and signed if a student needs to leave for any reason (nurse, library, offices, bathroom, etc.). Students will also need to sign out on some type of document in your room so you can account for which students are leaving and when.

4. Photocopying:
Please conserve paper and copying expense. This is a high expense that takes away from other needs! PLAN AHEAD: For large volume requests, please send work to the Print Shop (BOCES) using the Print Shop request form found on this site.

5. Substitutes:
Please give as much advance notice as possible when requesting a substitute. Advanced notice subs can be arranged through the Principals Secretary during regular school hours. All staff members should be registered with SubFinder, which can be used to request a sub during non-school hours. The link for SubFinder can also be found on this site. Make lesson plans for substitutes very specific, avoiding jargon and ambiguity. Prepare a folder of your regular policies and procedures, including information for the sub to access the Staff Handbook website. In the event of a planned absence, review your student conduct expectations with all classes. Emergency Lesson Plans are for a substitute who may not be familiar with your content area. Please make sure that the Principals Secretary has your Emergency Sub Plan folder.
