complete Occupation Sort and Research activity in MCIS.

SPRING
College and Career Planning all MCA students
update rsum on MCIS.

October Bring your parents to College Night to


learn about the college process.

April Parent/Teacher Conferences Look into summer jobs, internships, or other careerrelated programs or experiences.

October Parent/Teacher Conferences. Stay or get involved in school or community


clubs/activities. Keep track of the numbers of hours volunteered to add to rsum.

Start contacting colleges and ask about visiting


campus or summer tours.

Consider registering for some college-level courses


Junior year (PSEO, CIS or AP). Schedule a meeting with the dean of academics during Parent/Teacher conferences to find the best option.

WINTER
College and Career Planning MCA sophomores
complete School Sort and Education Research activity in MCIS.

SUMMER
Visit some local colleges campuses to see which
types of school appeals to you.

PLAN test MCA sophomores take the PLAN test (a


practice test for the ACT). Results are mailed home in January.

Use the summer to explore jobs and careers that are


interesting. For example, sign up for a camp or course, volunteer in an area of interest, or securing a rewarding summer job or internship.

Spend some time practicing for the ACT or SAT over


the summer while there is no other course work.

Talk with your parents about college finances.
