CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT 1.

Refers to the actions a teacher needs to take in order to maintain order in the classroom which enables learning to take place. THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE CLASSROOM Seating arrangements 1. Think about the relationships between people when deciding where to place them. The result is a seating plan with good relationships together, and bad relationships apart. 2. Think about patterns of semi-circles, U-shapes, concentric circles or even straight lines. 3. Consider class size and room. Sight, sound and comfort 1. Classroom is neat, clean and orderly in appearance. 2. Use the bulletin boards wisely. 3. Free from external noises. 4. Cooling systems (air condition or fan) are operating. VOICE AND BODY LANGUAGE 1. Body posture exhibit confidence. 2. Face reflects optimism, brightness and warmth. 3. Use hand and facial gesture to enhance meanings. 4. Make frequent eye contact with all students. 5. Move around the classroom, but not to distraction. CREATING A POSITIVE CLASSROOM CLIMATE Establish rapport 1. Important concept in creating positive energy in the classroom. 2. Show interest in each student as person. 3. Give feedback on each students progress.

4. Value and respect what students think or say. 5. Laugh with them not at them. 6. Work with them as a team not against them. 7. Balance praise and criticism. WITHITNESS 1. Refers to teachers awareness of what going on in the classroom. 2. When discipline problems occur, teacher should consistently takes action to suppress the misbehavior of exactly those students who instigated the problem CLASSROOM RULES FOR CONDUCT Formalized statements that provide students with general guidelines for the types of behaviors that are required and the types that are prohibited
