Digital Literacy~Fall: November 1-December 19, 2013

Objective: Conduct a research project in order to answer a self-generated question


connected to the literacy of a particular global community. CCSS.ELA-Literacy.WHST.9-10.7
*DURING THIS UNIT, RESEARCHERS WILL: Narrow or broaden the inquiry when appropriate Synthesize multiple sources on the subject Demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation Individually: *Researchers will generate a research questions that will allow them to investigate the literacy of their chosen community *Using multimedia, create an 8 x11-poster size display for their continents exhibit that shares their research. *Contribute to the plan and execution of creating a multi-media exhibit with colleagues. *Contribute to the plan and execution of providing a global literacy awareness event and book-fair to our community. With Your Network: *Organize and plan for a successful global literacy and book-fair for our community. Set for December 10th 1:30pm-6:30pm *Organize the solicitation, collection, and strategic organization of books. *Advertise to our community and to one specific classroom *Pitch/Propose to, at least, two donors of your choice the donation of books/goods.

Each student must take one of the following leadership roles within their network. You may also suggest something that is NOT listed below! 1. Visit a class to promote event (with video, flyer) 2. Create flyers for the event 3. Create a booth/exhibit 4. Highlight a local library and resource and work with a local library to gather more details 5. Book Donations/Book drive for parent hours 6. Invite an outside source that fits into our global literacy event 7. Fundraising (besides book sales) 8. NETWORK LEADER: Oversee the documentation all of the work/solicitation/communication that is being completed by the entire network (using a blog)

Our event is made up of two pieces: 1) Global Literacy Research Exhibit

& 2) Book Fair/Fundraising
